Welcome to the Cisco Career
Certifications

By opening this brochure, you have taken the first step to paving your future in an industry that has more jobs available than applicants to fill them. Employers worldwide are looking for highly trained networking experts who can keep up with the latest technologies in order to maximize performance while keeping networking costs down. Building upon the highly successful Cisco Certified
Internetworking Expert (CCIE) program, Cisco Career Certifications allows you to become certified at various levels of technical proficiency across the disciplines of network design or network support. So, if you are looking to change your career, grow your career, or get a career, CNTD is the place for you!

The world of networking is a highly competitive arena that continues to row in complexity as technology evolves. With this growth, the demand for highly trained networking experts increases daily. But for even the most experienced professionals, keeping current on the latest technology can be a tremendous challenge. To remain competitive and succeed as you pursue your career, proper training is essential for extending your knowledge and strengthening your professional options. With this fact in mind, Cisco Systems, Inc., has developed Cisco Career Certifications, a program that addresses the growing demand worldwide for more trained computer networking experts. Building upon highly successful Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)  respected networking certification vehicle -- Cisco Career Certifications enables you to be certified at various technical proficiency levels. Cisco Career Certifications focuses on both Routing and Switching, as well as WAN Switching solutions across the disciplines of network design and network support, providing you with a wealth of flexible options for developing your career. In each case, you have the opportunity to advance to CCIE status by first achieving Associate and/or Professional certification in these tracks.

Achieving Certification

The recommended courses for each career certification track is taught by Cisco Training Partners, who are authorized on a country-by-country basis and must undergo rigorous training and testing to meet our stringent requirements. When you are trained by CNTD, Ciscos Authorized Training Partner for Pakistan, you'll receive the high-quality instruction you'd expect from Cisco Systems, the industry's networking innovator. Equally important, product information will come straight to you from Cisco and its partners, rather than from a secondhand, uncertified source. This ensures you'll receive the most up-to-date knowledge, reflecting the latest trends in the networking industry. All Cisco Career Certifications require you to pass a supervised test. While candidates are not required to gain Associate or Professional status before attempting to become a CCIE, these intermediate certificates are designed to act as stepping stones that confirm your relative expertise. As such, the Cisco Career Certifications program helps develop and increase the number of highly trained individuals while  establishing viable career paths in today's competitive networking industry. The following page outline the general guidelines associated with each career certification track, along with recommended Cisco courses designed to provide you with the knowledge you need to pass the exam for each specific certification. After successfully passing the test, you'll receive a graduation letter, a certificate from Cisco, and the right to use your designated certification on your business card.

Routing and Switching Network Support

The Cisco Network Support Certification track is designed for professionals working with traditional Cisco-based networks that predominantly include LAN and WAN routers and LAN switches. Expertise  in this area will enable you to:

  • Install and configure a network to increase bandwidth, improve response times, and enhance
  • Reliability and quality of service
  • Maximize performance and improve network security
  • Create a global intranet
  • Provide a range of application-oriented solutions

You can also attain several certifications along the Network Support path, including Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), and two different Cisco  Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certifications: CCIE-Routing and Switching, and CCIE-ISP Dial. CCNAs focus on relatively simple networks, and CCNPs have the expertise required to install,  configure, operate, and troubleshoot more complex Cisco-based networks that encompass LAN/WAN routing and LAN switching. CCIEs represent the highest-attainable certification level under Cisco Career Certifications and ideally represent at least two years of on-the-jobexperience, in addition to the knowledge associated with the CCNP level. There are two types of CCIE certifications: CCIE-Routing andSwitching and CCIE-ISP Dial, which focuses primarily on remote access technology and expertise.

Routing and Switching Network Design

The Cisco Network Design Career Certification track is designed for people who want to design  Cisco-based networks that predominantly include routed LAN, routed WAN, and switched LAN networks. (Candidates interested in network design using WAN switching technology should pursue the WAN Switching Design track). The focus here is on developing hierarchical network design skills  that enable you to know when, where, and how to employ routers and LAN switches, along with the appropriate design methods that relate to your company's specific needs. You can attain two certifications along the Network Design career track -- Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA) and Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP). CCDAs focus on the design of relatively simple networks, and CCDPs have the expertise to design more complex networks based on Cisco LAN and WAN routers and LAN switches.

WAN Switching Network Design and Support

Because WAN Switching technology is so different than its counterparts in the LAN and WAN routing and LAN switching arenas, Cisco has developed a separate WAN switching network design and support track as part of Cisco Career Certifications. The WAN switching career tracks ensure that you have the skills required to configure, operate, troubleshoot, and manage WAN switched networks.
Expertise in this area includes: Media and telephony transmission techniques, error detection, Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) Knowledge of Frame Relay and ATM Knowledge of Cisco-specific technologies, including WAN switch platforms/applications/architectures and interfaces Knowledge of service provider technology, including packet encapsulation and network-to-network interconnections
Four WAN Switching certifications are available, covering the Associate (CCNA-WAN Switching), Professional (CCNP-WAN Switching and CCDP-WAN Switching), and Expert (CCIE-WAN Switching) levels.

Enhance Your Career Path Today

When you successfully earn your certification in any of the Cisco Career Certifications, you can be that you've gained the knowledge and skills you need to tackle almost any network design and support challenge that you encounter while being recognized for your expertise. Cisco Career Certifications provide you with a growth path that enables continual enhancement of the skills required in the networking industry.
